About Us
Mark Brice, Owner
Brice Piano Service has been offering quality piano tuning services since 1997. Mark Brice, owner, is a retired Minister of Music and public school teacher. The other four tuners are also professional musicians.
Tuning of pianos is set up with a Sanderson Accu-Tuner and is finished using the trained ear of a professional musician. Mark received his training at Penn West University in Edinboro, Pennsylvania from a Master Piano Technician. The four tuners now working with him were personally trained by him and have passed rigorous examination. In addition regulating, voicing and most repairs are available. One of the tuners also specializes in custom cleaning of most pianos at our standard rate for repairs.
A normal tuning, that is without any extra adjustments or “pitch raise”, is $150.00. “Pitch Raise” refers to a piano that has either not been tuned for a long time or has been moved or stored improperly and the strings have been stretched to cause the overall pitch of the piano to be a quarter step or more flat. This requires a rough tuning first to raise the pitch of each string and then the entire piano to be tuned again at standard pitch. This process necessitates an additional $75.00 charge since in essence the piano has to be tuned twice.
